Ashton Helland's Medical Bills

Hi my name is Ashton. I was born at 24 weeks, on December 16th, 2013. I weighed 1 pound 3 ounces and was 12 inches long.  The doctors told my mommy and daddy I had 15% chance of making it. It has been a real roller coaster for my parents. On Christmas Eve II had a seizure, which caused damage to my left and right ventricals in my brain.  I had a PDA which thankfully closed with the medicine they used. Unfortunately the medicine caused a hole in my intestine, so I had to have surgery to fix it. My ventricals started getting to big and causing pressure on my brain, so they had to put a shunt in my head.  About a month and a half went by and they had to go back in and attach the right side to the shunt as the portion that drains the fluid was blocked by the damage from my seizure.  When I was recovering from my surgery the doctors told my mommy and daddy that because of my lungs which were premature and have chronic lung disease that now my heart had been effected and I have Pulmonary Hypertension. At 5 1/2 months I had to be transferred from Spring Valley NICU to Sunrise Children's Hospital to the cardiac NICU. I am now getting ready to have a G-tube put in as I have not been able to hold down my food. This procedure will help me to eat regularly instead of on my constant feeds they have me at now. I just turned 8 months and my mommy and daddy are hoping this next surgery will allow me to come home.  The doctors tell my parents they won't know exactly what I will need in the future until I developed to about a year old. We hope everything will be great, but we know there will be plenty of my doctors that I will be visiting.

When I was born my mommy lost her job, because she was not released to work. My current medical bills and future are really difficult if not impossible for my parents. 

I have been chosen by Kassidy's Army as the recipent of their 4th 5K run and 1 mile fun walk.  The event will be held on November 1, 2014. We would love you to be there. If you would like to help, but can not attend, any donation would be appreciated.
