To help keep MK's independent food businesses going in this stressful time, the fund will buy direct from them to give free meals to MK NHS staff
Working with MK University Hospital in the first instance, and a number of our amazing local street food businesses, we'll keep the kitchens open, so we're able to enjoy once we're through this, and we can say thank you directly to the amazing local NHS
I'm Mike Rea - I played a part in kickstarting MK's street food scene, with an event at the Buszy in 2016... I know most of the main traders.
I also own a local business - we're lucky enough to be mostly unaffected by the current situation. So, when I asked myself the question: how can I best help out people who are hard working, honest business people who'd otherwise have no way to ride this one out, and support the people we all rely on at the moment, in the NHS, this seemed a good idea.
The idea: you donate what you can, and get your company to do so, if you can. 100% of the money will pay local independent food businesses to cook food that will be distributed directly to NHS workers (we're looking at a truck in the MK Hospital car park) - doctors, nurses, support staff, paramedics... Everyone that we can reach.
