I will always smile through any obstacle because I’m a child of God.
My Story:
Hi, my name is Justin. I never imagined I’d be in this position, but I’m reaching out because I need help getting back on my feet after leaving a painful and unsafe housing situation.
A little over two weeks ago, I moved in to Alabama from Nashville with someone I considered a close friend. I was invited to stay while I transitioned between jobs, and I agreed to help with basic household tasks and cover utilities once I got more stable. I’ve been driving for Uber, actively interviewing, and doing everything I can to support myself.
But soon after moving in, things changed. I was suddenly expected to work 25+ hours a week—caring for nearly 30 dogs, maintaining six acres of land, folding linens, moving furniture, and doing construction-type labor. When I gently tried to explain that I needed to focus on earning income and couldn’t commit to that kind of schedule, things escalated.
I was yelled at, had the power cut off in my room, and began to feel genuinely unsafe. Guns are present in the home—not used or threatened, but enough to make the environment feel unstable especially when taking medication that alters consciousness. I’ve never been someone who thrives in conflict. I stayed calm, tried to communicate and wasn’t able to speak I even prayed for peace. I stood up for myself and set boundaries. I was very nice about the situation I stated how I felt and told her that couldn’t happen again. I told her the things that concerned me living there. However, she didn’t like that and I was just given 7 days to leave this past Friday, and with no lease and no resources, I’m in a deeply vulnerable place. Had I seen this beforehand I of course would’ve avoided and stayed in Nashville with my job etc. I’m so shocked I have to mourn this friendship because I really care for this person and will do anything for her and I forgive her but, I have to stand on my boundaries and if she can’t honor them then it’s not the place for me.
About Me:
I’m a medical professional who went back to school to follow my passion for music, healing, and wellness. I graduated with a degree in Audio Engineering and Sound Production, and became a certified meditation practitioner and sound therapist.
I had hoped this would be a time to slow down, work less, and start building my dream—creating a sound healing business that integrates meditation, intention, and energy work to help others heal. This could have been the perfect opportunity to build that dream. But unfortunately, the person I moved in with is battling unhealed trauma from childhood—something I have compassion for—but it has made the living environment emotionally volatile and spiritually heavy.
Why I’m Asking
This is humbling. I anm actively making by ubering to make it with food etc. I’ve worked hard all my life. I’m not looking for a handout—I’m looking for a hand to help me step into the next chapter safely, and with dignity.
I still believe in goodness, in the power of stillness, and in the healing we’re all capable of when we show up for one another. If you feel called to give, share, or send a prayer, I receive it with gratitude.
With love and faith,
Justin
