I am trying to raise money for my cousin Kelly because he isn't in a position to help himself. Kelly is such a great guy and would literally give anyone the shirt off his back. He is fun, loving, and always thinking of others. He has always gone above and beyond to bring joy to others, so it would be awesome if I could do something for him.
To make a long story short, my cousin was just cited with misdemeanor vehicluar manslaughter and failure to yield. He is set to go to a full jury trial on October 16th, 2014. Unfortunately, my cousin needs $5,000 to get a lawyer, but doesn't have the money to do so. So I am asking anyone who knows Kelly and anyone and everyone else to help.
This whole scenario just seems odd because the accident happened earlier this summer. The original officer involved with the case claimed, that Kelly was following the speed limit, the pedestrian illegally stepped out into the intersection, and that this was just an unfortunate accident. As a result of the accident, the pedestrian ended up dying a few weeks later. The case seemed to have come to a close. The original officer on the scene has since retired and a new hot shot officer with something to prove has taken over. He decided there was a case to be had and served my cousin papers, which expects him in court on friday.
