Help Nolan get a LIFT!

Nolan Coogan has been a Cambria resident for over 35 years, and if you ever went up to the Hamlet at Moonstone Gardens for an evening of wine and dine and a beautiful sunset, you may remember him. His Photography always hung on the walls and he also was a waiter there. Nolan and his wonderful wife JoEllen Butler (East West Ranch/North Coast SWAP) live a humble life in their home on Cambridge Street. Nolan has always been a very an extraordinary photographer, and was known for his multiple exposure well before the digital age. He has always been very outward bound nature man and has spent his most life camping, hiking, canoeing, and on great adventures seeking natural wonders and photographic phenomenon’s. He captured much of the wonders of the local coastline as well as many other beautiful places on film in a way which is unique to his exquisite eye. Some of his heartfelt favorites are Southern Utah, Alaska, and Death Valley. Nolan was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis about 8 years ago. Upon recovering from a broken leg, he found he could not catch his breath any more. This was strange and shocking to all of us in his family, because Nolan has always been strong as an ox and until that point seemed to not be effected be health issues. He started his journey through his disease with San Francisco State University because this diagnosis had little treatments know and they were studying Pulmonary Fibrosis as well as performing regular Lung Transplants for this disease. As the disease progressed he got on the transplant list at UCSF only to get kicked out at the last minute for the condition of his heart (my dad loves ice cream). After undergoing a surgical procedure on hid heart (five stints were put in to hold his artery’s open) in hopes of being able to receive the lung transplant, he was rejected by the specialists. His heart is now too fragile to have a transplant. In the past year his ability to breath has really descended. He gets winded and has to stop after ten steps. He is no longer able to go up his stairs, so in turn he is no longer leaving his house. Because he live upstairs, WE NEED YOUR HELP. We are trying to raise money to install a chair lift on his house, so that he has the freedom to still enjoy the beautiful town of Cambria, the Big Sur Coastline, and the natural wonders of the great Outdoors. The Chairlift we are looking at is going to cost at least $6000, plus instillation.  We had a gracious family member donate a large portion of the money, but still need to raise a little bit. If anyone can help us, we would be honored and so appreciative.
