Sam Stewart, our brother passed away on New Years Day. He was the father of a 14 month old son Adrian who lives with his mother and Sam's fiancée, Cristina, in Colombia.
He recently moved back to Los Angeles to start building a life here for him and his family. He worked so hard for the last few months, and just got into IATSE Local 80 at the end of November.
He had started the process for his family to move here and was consulting with an immigration lawyer. The family will be flying to Bogota to pick up where he left off, and start working on a plan to secure his sons future.
Sam's illness and death were caused by a rare auto immune disease, HLH (Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis). It may be genetic and we will know for sure once tests have been completed. Adrian has a medical procedure scheduled soon and we want to be a good support system for Sam's loved ones, making sure he has the best medical care possible in Colombia . Your funds will help pay for cremation, paperwork, translations, and some travel to Colombia and most important, support for Sam's family. There will be a memorial service for Sam within the next few months.
