Hi!
My name is Aeryn - I am a year 10 (going into year 11) student at Ilkley Grammar and I am fundraising so that I can take part in World Challenge Expedition in Malaysia in July 2026. The purpose of the trip is to encourage growth, independence and leadership skills in the students.
I want to take part in this expedition to experience a completely different way of life and culture. We will learn about Environmental and Marine/Turtle Conservation. We also get to work with the local communities and learn how to weave traditional bamboo huts.
Part of the adventure is trekking through the dense Malaysian rainforest. We will live in very basic conditions, camping without electricity or running water for some of the time - all to build resilience and strength of character. And most importantly, an appreciation for the luxuries in life that people from underprivileged communities do not have.
The trip costs £4245 each, and we are encouraged to raise the money by ourselves. The life lessons start before the Expedition even starts!
I have set up this GOFUNDME page hoping to ask for support!
Asking for donations may seem like an easy option, but this is not all I’m doing!
I am also doing odd-jobs for anyone who needs help at home, dog-walking, baby-sitting, car-washing... and also selling 2nd-hand clothing online. I really hope the combined effort of all these will help me to get to Malaysia!
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and any support big or small would help me so much.
