Irma's Transplant

Donation protected

Back in 2012 my Mom, Irma was diagnosed with Kidney failure. She became dependent on dialysis treatments three times a week for three hours at a time. I'll break down the process for those of you that aren't familiar with the treatment: needles are poked into the patient’s body and connected to the hemodialysis machine. The machine filters wastes, salts and fluid from your blood when your kidneys are no longer healthy enough to do this work adequately. The needles are painful and the process is draining (imagine the feeling after giving blood). Irma went through this process as well as multiple surgeries to maintain the access point over the course of the last 5 years and finally, in March of 2017, we received news that it was time for a transplant...

All of the help, love, and prayers we have received thus far has been greatly appreciated and has really helped get us to this point but the journey is just beginning. During and after a transplant, the body's immune has to be suppressed in order to ensure that the body doesn't reject the kidney and begin attacking it. Irma will be on this anti-rejection medication along with others for the rest of her life and as you can imagine, it gets quite pricey. This is where you come in, I've put this page together to help with the cost of medication and follow up appointments after the transplant.  Again, any help that you can provide is greatly appreciated. We are grateful for your support. Thank you again for your time
