Mark's Fight Against Cancer

For most of you that are reading this, you already know the struggles that my dad and our family have been going through over the last year or so. In late October of 2013, we were told that Dad had been diagnosed with Small-Cell Lung Cancer. And so the battle started. This came with stress, sadness and worry. We immediately started doing some research on the battle he was about to fight to be able to understand it. Mark was immediately thrust into the battle of his life with this killer disease. Determined to win this fight, he subjected himself to an aggressive regiment of chemotherapy and treatment. After several months of this regiment, it was determined that both large tumors (one the size of his fist) were gone. Dad rang the “bell” at the cancer treatment center he was getting all this treatment from signaling that he was on the road to recovery, but over the last several weeks Dad has went to some follow-up doctor appointments and it has been determined that the cancer is still alive and well within his body. Mark’s battle continues and our family has every bit of faith that he will prevail in this fight. However, because this killer disease has its ways of taking even the strongest of people off this earth, we want to give Dad and our family a family vacation that we can enjoy and not think about the battle he faces. Mark and Debbie Lusby have been married for 37 years and have always taken a yearly trip to Mexico. While we all know that Vegas might be their other getaway, Mexico is their true vacation spot. With all the medical bills and the onset of Dad having to retire from his job to continue his battle, the thought of having enough money to go to on vacation isn’t even comprehendible. Unfortunately, Mark’s health is also rapidly deteriorating so flying to Mexico might not be an option either. That’s why our family has decided to take him to spend some time in our beautiful state of Colorado for a long weekend where we can spend some time with him enjoying each other’s company and relaxing. Please make a donation to help us pay for this trip with his family, as well as help with some of the extreme amount medical bills that have built up from Mark’s battle.
Having said that, our goal would be to raise $9,000 to help him enjoy some family time and a stress-free vacation to make some everlasting memories for our family. We want to extend our ultimate gratitude to the people that make donations; it is truly appreciated by the entire Lusby family.
