Help our family

As December has come and gone, I’m reflecting on the amount of devastation our family has faced. Although many families have been effected whether they have faced job loss, family or friends getting sick from this silent killer called covid , or have even had a loved one die from this horrible virus, I can’t help thinking and feeling such devastation for my family and myself. When my mother moved to Florida 2 years ago, my sister stepped up and tried to fill those shoes of such an amazing mother who loved her children unconditionally, made every holiday very special especially Christmas. Christmas was moms favorite holiday. This year, we didn’t get to celebrate Christmas with our mother. My mother was a hero. When her sister was in need of help, my mother and father were there to help, like they always did for people. That courageous, unselfish move resulted in our mother getting sick with covid which ultimately caused her death 2 days before Christmas. Our uncle also passed and our Aunt, my moms sister, passed 24 hrs after our mother. My sister and I handled many affairs while I flew to Florida , she had to stay back because she is a high risk for covid with her ms. Many calls to the hospital were made, many difficult decisions clouded us with major anxiety and fear for our mothers care. My mother loved her hot fudge sundaes... especially topped with a cherry. Well, that cherry was topped on my sisters plate. Her basement flooded 2 days later causing a lot of damage. She is not able to claim it on her home owners insurance and is in need of a lot of work. She has a special needs son who was very devastated about his grandmas illness and death. Not only does my sister struggle with ms, trying her best to care for her son, but also trying to fill my mother’s shoes to ensure not only that her children continue to enjoy life and holidays like our mom would do, but to make sure my brother and I get to continue expiercing the same. And so for my sister, I am doing something special for her in thanks for everything she does and tries to do for all of us.
