Mom has ALS and it's scary!

My mom, who has worked her whole life to make ends meet, has been diagnosed with ALS, a terminal disease that affects muscles and voluntary movement. Upon getting the diagnosis, her first words were, "Well, I guess I won't be going back to work."
My Mom has always been a humble and giving person. She never had big aspirations, rather settled on the simple life. She worked as a waitress her whole life and never complained. Until she needed to use the 'System' that was set aside for the elderly and disabled. I will not go in to that. Unfortunately she never planned well for the future.
I love my mom and am grateful for the life she has given me. I would do anything to help make her final moments as memorable and peaceful as pssible. At age 64 she will be giving up her apartment and moving in with me and my family. Hopefully there she can find peace of mind and the happiness she deserves.
The reason for our fundrasier is simple, we will need help. One side of it is, going through the medical 'red tape' is a time consuming process. Sometimes you can't even get an appointment for 2-3mnths. There's another side that medical doesn't even cover, such has making your home wheel chair accessible, changing toilets, adding hand rails, getting stair lifts and ramps and widening doorways. There's other expenses like nurses for bathing, travel to and from doctors appointments and of course the inevitable final preperations.
My family and I are prepared to do what we can for her and cope with it the best we can. We however we have alot of the same concerns most people have, mortgage, kids in school, everday food and utility bills. We just don't see how we can manage to accomplish everything that needs to be done.
I aksed my mom yesterday to name 3 things that she wanted to accomplish in her life that she never got to, she said the only thing she really wants to do is goto Tupelo, Mississippi to see Elvis' birthplace. She is a lifelong Elvis fan so it's no surprise really, but of all the things in the world to do, that's it? Really Mom? Lol.
A friend of mine suggested I try this method to ask for help, so that's what I'm doing. They make us put a 'Goal' amount so I had to put something. Really we would be grateful for any consideration people give us. Upon looking at some of the other fundraisers, it certainly appears that humanity has hope.
I'd like to thank everyone in advance for their help and support and thank you to my family for all their help so far as we begin this journey.
I will be keeping a video log of my moms progress and life over the next year. I will post a link once I get it in place. I've taken so much inspiration from all the stories of people with ALS and how they chose to not let this disease define them as a person. I feel it's my obligation to do the same, for my mom!
I will also add some photos and videos as they become available.
