Fundraiser for my parents.

Update: There's no easy way for me to say this...My dad passed away earlier this week.

We will be using the contributions made so far to help with medical expenses and now we are asking for help with donations for taking care of Funeral expenses for my dad. 

Now that my dad has passed. My mom may lose the medical insurance since the insurance she had was under my dad.

We have been extremely thankful for your generous donations. It was my intention to 

personally thank each and every one of you that has contributed, but it's been very difficult to process everything that is going on.

Hi, my name is Elma Roe and I am fundraising for my mom and dad, Gilberto Falcon, and Maria Elma Falcon who are currently at the Hospital.

My mom has been hospitalized since September 12, 2023.

First, she broke her hip. They ordered an MRI to find out the reason for her fall, and she was diagnosed with a Benign Brain Tumor right behind her right eye. She had surgery to get the brain tumor removed with many complications. She has had 3 surgeries in one month (Hip Replacement Surgery, Brain Tumor Removal Surgery, and Craniotomy to remove the fluid in her brain. After those surgeries my mom was not allowed to take blood thinners to prevent fluid in her brain, and in turn she suffered 3 strokes in one week. She will be needing a lot of rehabilitation services in order to improve her condition.

My dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 Thyroid Cancer in July 2023. He was not a candidate for tumor removal surgery because his tumor is very large and it is in the middle of all his major arteries in a section of the chest called the mediastinum. The tumor is pushing his trachea to the right, pushing against his heart and encasing the aorta. It is also pushing against his lungs and esophagus. My dad has been hospitalized since October 10, 2023. He's gone through 10 treatments of External Beam Radiation Therapy in addition to the radioactive iodine pill. He is in worse condition than my mom and is still hospitalized.

We have been by their side since day one. We love our mom and dad with all our heart. We are asking for help which will all go toward their medical expenses to get them to continue their medical treatments. With the money we raise, we can also continue providing for their healthcare needs. My dad has been working for the City of McAllen for many years, but even though he has commercial insurance, many costs do not fall under my dads united health insurance. The costs are currently being paid out of pocket. My mom devoted her entire life to raising us, and my dad has always dropped everything to be there for us. Up until 2 months ago, he was even driving and picking up his grandkids from school. Even when his health was deteriorating, and he started using a walker, he was still driving over to visit my mom at the hospital everyday sometimes twice a day. He would walk all the way to the cafeteria to buy her coffee and then walk all the way to the 5th floor to see her until he just couldn't anymore. It is hard for us to see how they went from being a completely independent couple living alone over the summer to being bedridden this fall semester. We would like more than anything to be there for them.
