Being a missionary pastor to Portugal has its challenges. Susana and I have tried many approaches to reach out to the Portuguese people with the wonderful news of the Gospel. Slowly the church here grows. Our best project to date has been one that surprised us by the positive response we got from the Portuguese. We set up a hiking club. That’s right, a hiking club. On hikes we talked with those joining the hike and, amazingly, this approached is the best initiative we have had to reach people with the Gospel.
Our hiking club is growing with non-Christians. It’s wonderful! Our challenge now is the funding. Each hiking club member pays the equivalent of $1.50 U.S. dollars per month. We can not ask more, considering the Portuguese salaries and economy. Yet, for this project to keep working we need to buy safety equipment. It is absolutely important that the authorities and the people we invite know that we are being safe with our hikes.
Will you help us buy safety equipment for our hiking club? As unique as it may seem, this has turned out to be an effective missionary project. Please consider donating. Please remember us in prayer. Thank you.
