Brandon Beck Memorial

Donation protected
Almost four years ago I met an energetic young man.  I was dating his mother, Diane, at the time.  She had three children which she had raised with virtually no assistance from their father.  Her oldest son, Brandon Beck, a good looking young man, loved sports, had a big heart, and was just a great kid.  He and I hit it off from day one....we could relate to each other.  While the relationship between Diane and I did not survive, Brandon and I found a way to keep ours and had a special bond.  At times he would live with me and though I was mentoring him, I look back and wonder if he wasn't mentoring me.  He had a great understanding of the big picture and we would have deep and emotional discussions.  We enjoyed sports together and I enjoyed watching him grow.  He had become family to us and I was happy that Diane allowed him to continue to be in our lives.  Diane has not had an easy life and can be quite a remarkable woman.  Brandon would often join my family for holidays, get togethers/BBQ's and events.  Everyone loved him, especially my granddaughters who would just stare at him with their eyes so big, because they had such a huge crush on him.  He was great with everyone and even taught my oldest granddaughter how to throw a football.  She loved throwing the football with him.

Brandon recently passed his insurance agent's exam and I was so proud of him.  His life really started to evolve.  He would tell people I was his Stepdad, which I did not deserve, but it was such an honor to hear him say that.  We went through lots of hard times together....and many of those times mine.  We had a way we could pick each other up, he was my wingman the last 3 1/2 years.  Many who know me, know of Brandon.  He has been with me at my office, with my family, and at business and sporting events.  We were able to talk about almost anything, and that's what made our bond so tight.

Earlier this week Brandon was rushed to the hospital, where, after a few days he was pronounced brain dead.  It was difficult to let him go.  His mother and family are understandably, very devasted and distraught.  I personally have never felt so much pain, anguish, and sadness in my life.  I have cried for days now. No one should lose a child.  Brandon was the closest thing to a son for me and I now know what it is like to lose a child.  Brandon was a young man with his whole future ahead of him.  As both families prepare for Brandon's funeral, they are faced with tremendous financial burdens.  I can tell you personally Diane works hard and lives paycheck to paycheck and her money is spent on her children. Brandon had no insurance.  It is very hard for me to ask family, friends and business associates for anything, as I pride myself on doing things myself; but I'm asking not for me, but for Brandon and his family.  The financial burden is too much and creates more pain and stress at the worst time possible....we need to let them mourn and help them through this incredibly difficult time. I'm asking all of you to help me in providing relief from this tragic event.  Every donation helps and is greatly appreciated, whether big or small.  The money is needed for Brandon's funeral, other expenses, treatment, and rebuilding of their lives.  I set the goal in hopes of meeting at least the minimum for Brandon's family to get by with the barest of arrangements, and pay on minor financial burdens.  There is not much time, as Brandon needs to be laid to rest in his final resting place.  Brandon's family is hoping to have the services around the August 28th.  I'd like to show them that we have met, or even exceeded our minimum goal, so the burden can be lifted.  I believe he helped me more than I helped him and he was such a blessing in both, my life and my family's life. Please help me honor Brandon and help his family whose loss cannot be replaced.  I am very humbly asking for your help.

Sincerely

Donald A. Andrews, Jr.
