Help us keep our promise

Dear Friends,

We are so excited to be in our new home in Dania Beach now that we have completed the Phase I buildout. On September 28th, we held our Phase I Grand Opening which welcomed more than 500 friends and supporters to our new site. It was a wonderful opportunity to share our vision and plans with everyone who attended.

In the coming months, we will be incorporating more programming at our new site. Our two anchor artifacts – the Railcar and Sherman Tank are available for group and individual tours by appointment.

Our 2016-2017 Educational Outreach calendar is in full swing with our Speaker’s Bureau, Annual Contests, and the following scheduled Student Awareness Days for Miami Dade College on November 15th and Broward County Schools on December 7th. As soon as our Dade County and Palm Beach County ones are scheduled we will share the dates.

The Center has always strived to teach people from all walks of life the universal lessons of the Holocaust, through thought-provoking exhibitions and insightful programming, illuminating the catastrophic ramifications of prejudice, racism, and bullying. Through our programming, students and teachers alike learn there will always be lessons to be heeded from the Holocaust and that silence only helps the perpetrator.

The Documentation Department is also in full swing. It has always been the Center’s priority to document and present an enduring, historically accurate record of the Holocaust through eyewitness accounts by Survivors, Liberators, Rescuers, and others who survived terrifying experiences, overcame fear and grief, and triumphed to live meaningful and productive lives. We continue to interview all who come forward and are now beginning to document the experiences of the Children of Survivors, also known as members of the 2nd Generation.

We are happy to have our volunteers back, as they continue to facilitate, transcribe, audit-edit, and proofread the accounts of Survivors, Liberators, and Rescuers. Thanks to the generosity of JM Family Enterprises there are 18 new computers set up in the beautiful new transcription stations donated by JC White.

We are also in full Capital Campaign mode to raise the $6,000,000 needed to buildout Phase 2, which will be the first South Florida Holocaust Museum. As we begin Phase 2 we are once again asking for your help. Please know we are tremendously grateful to all of you who have contributed funds, retweeted us on Twitter, shared us on Facebook, and shared our campaign with your friends and family. Getting the word out is a vital and most important part to making the Legacy of Remembrance a reality! Please don’t stop now! We are counting on each of you!

Many of you have asked us for a list of Naming Opportunities, which we have attached for your convenience. Please know every contribution counts and brings us one step closer to our goal. Please donate whatever you can so that together we will endow South Florida with A Living Memorial that will, within the walls of this museum, bear witness to the past, present, and future for the sake of Jewish and human survival.

Please continue to share the link of this campaign http://www.gofundme.com/d11dhk on your Facebook pages and Twitter accounts. Facebook is still the best way to share information in this day and age.

We’ll continue to keep you posted as we move towards the final stretch! With tremendous gratitude and appreciation to all of you who have helped us keep our promise of Never Again to our beloved Survivors. L’dor V’dor.

Best Regards,

Rositta
