Nick Maher, 55, long time Ann Arbor, MI resident, Huron H.S. (1977) and Washtenaw Community College (1994, Scientific & Technical Communications) graduate, car aficionado and friend to the downtown Ann Arbor music scene, was diagnosed with Stage 4 mantle cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2011.

He no longer can play softball as he did in past years for such teams as "Ten Fat Guys Named Elvis", "The Bashers", Casey's Tavern, The Blind Pig and Bicycle Jim's.

He underwent chemotherapy and soon afterward went into remission.  He had several clear PET scans over a 2 year period. But now his lymphoma has resurfaced.  He incurred great debt to undergo the chemotherapy in 2011 using up the savings he had at that time.

He was laid off from his job in April and has lost health care. He is looking for work that can accommodate his current limitations.

Nick applied for Social Security Disability Benefits and Medicaid and has received both. Unfortunately his monthly Medicaid deductible is 75% of his monthly disability benefit amount. Nick is now under the care of an Oncologist at the University of Michigan Cancer center and has been prescribed an oral chemotherapy treatment. This prescription costs over $10,000 per month.

Please if you can, help Nick pay his bills, medical and otherwise. Anything you can give is sincerely appreciated. Thank you.
