Keep Kenyan Girls in School!

Donation protected
WISER runs an ENTIRELY free high school for girls in Muhuru Bay, a fishing village in rural Kenya. Girls here rarely complete secondary school. They are forced into marriages, become pregnant, drop out of school to enable their brothers to continue, suffer physical and psychological abuse, and have a general lack of support and positive female role models. Many girls engage in transactional sex in order to pay school fees or buy sanitary pads resulting in some of the highest HIV rates in the country (38%). The barriers for female education are so strong that in 30 years, only one woman from the community had attended University. Until WISER.

Last year, our first class of girls completed high school. All 28 passed the national exam and 17 have qualified for university! WISER is transforming the way that girls’ education is valued in the community.

WISER works. Join us in providing a gender-safe environment where girls can focus on their studies and achieve their dreams!

$3,000 covers all costs for a WISER girl for one year including accomodation, school supplies, food, sanitary pads, healthcare and clean drinking water.
