D'Ericka was a 30 year old mother of 4. She had 2 twin boys (Ja'Wuan & Ja'Quan, 14) and 2 little girls (Ja'Niyah, 10 & Clydriah, 8) who will now have to grow up without their mother. A terrible tragedy has taken her life and has left our family in denial and shock.
On September 17th at around 3am, D'Ericka yelled for her children to call 911 because she couldn't breathe. She then collapsed to the floor and lost consciousness. Her children called 911 and let them know their mother wasn't breathing and needed to be taken to the hospital. When the ambulance got to her, she was still unconscious and not breathing and they then began CPR. Her heart stopped, but the paramedics were eventually able to bring her back after some time. She was airlifted to The University Of Chicago hospital where it was found that she had a pulmonary embolism, a large blood clot had traveled from her leg to her heart. During the ordeal, she suffered severe brain damage due to lack of oxygen to her brain. She died Monday, October 1st at 6:11 am.
My sister was a hard working single mom who did absolutely everything in her power to support her children and show that she loved them dearly. She worked on her feet all day 40+ hours a week. She came home, cooked dinner for her children, helped with homework, put them to bed, and got ready to do it all over again the next day. Even though she would often fall on hard times, she always made a way for her kids.
All D'Ericka ever wanted to do is make sure her kids are cared for, so much so that she forgot about herself at times. So we're looking to come together and help her do what she no longer can. We are raising money for her kids' future needs, education funds for them, her memorial, and any medical bills the family may face.
Any financial contribution that you can make is so greatly appreciated. It will be a huge help and go a long way for our family during this very difficult time.
