A Year in Bolivia

Seven years ago, Andy and I spent six weeks in Cochabamba, Bolivia with A Breeze of Hope Foundation. This non-profit organization provides free legal, social, and psychological services to children who have been sexually abused.
We have remained close friends with the founders, Brisa and Parker De Angulo, and have been continually inspired by the work they do. Since our visit in 2011, we have wanted to return for a longer period of time and we are so excited to finally have the opportunity.
Andy will be volunteering as a lawyer at A Breeze of Hope's center for children (Centro Una Brisa de Esperanza/CUBE), helping with criminal prosecutions and legislative advocacy. He will also be planting and tending perennial gardens with the kids, which he is especially excited about.
I will be helping facilitate alternative therapies for the children such as dance, music, and art. I will also be continuing my masters of counseling program online while in Bolivia and hope to incorporate what I learn from CUBE's therapists into my future work. I was unable to do much volunteering in 2011 because of sickness, so I am excited to return with strength and energy to serve wherever I am most helpful. CUBE is truly an amazing place where kids not only receive free services but become part of a family.
