OUR PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED

It can be hard to express in words how grateful you become for all the family and friends who prayed for my sister during her lung surgery to remove the tumor growing in her lower lobe known as adenocarcinoma. She had undergone a previous triple bypass years ago making this surgery an even higher risk for her. The first attempt at the lung surgery had to be halted shortly after she was put under anesthesia because her heart rate dropped too low to proceed. The doctors decided to adjust some of her medicines and possibly make another attempt in a couple of days.

Cancer, specifically, lung cancer, has already taken my mother and a best friend. When I got the news from my sister that she too was diagnosed with this disease, I crumbled. I could not believe this disease had hit another loved one.

By Monday, a few days later it was decided to try to remove the tumor again. Needless to say, all involved, medical personnel, family, friends, and their friends and family all spread the word and offered their prayers for her to survive the surgery.

There are few, if any, times when you realize that life is in the hands of something more than just us humans. This was one of those times. Knowing all those people were praying during this time was truly consoling but, more importantly, I believe the power of that prayer worked.

That’s right. Not only did she make it through the surgery but all tests of the lymph nodes were clear. While she has about 18 inches of staples and has an enormous amount of pain, it looks like she has a great chance that she is rid of the adenocarcinoma and will be able to enjoy watching her new grandson grow up (that is him in the pic). Amen to the power of prayer.

Why am I here then, asking for help? I am asking for help on her behalf because her medical bills are rolling in now. Even though she has insurance, there is an enormous amount of money that insurance does not pay for.

My sister’s courage and strength has inspired me.  And she feels that other people have bigger problems than this. Of course, she is right, but I don’t think it makes hers any less burdensome.

As you may know, a cancer diagnosis, and the ensuing treatment and care can be financially devastating to say the least.  Any amount you can donate is GREATLY appreciated. United we can help.
