Disaster Relief

On Saturday, August 9th, our area was hit with a flash flood. Just like the name implies, it came out of nowhere. Water flooded our dear friend Shelia's entire house-front to back, end to end. The force of the water was so strong it left holes in parts of the sheet rock. Because we are a tight community of lifelong friends, we sprang into action. Within hours of the water receeding, friends and neighbors were there, working in ankle deep water to rip out carpet and padding, grab things off the floor and move furniture. Most of what Sheila has is a total loss. 30+ years of memories and keepsakes-ruined. A rescue team has been there the last two days finishing what we started on Sunday-pulling down sheet rock and wall and hauling off ruined furniture, clothes and household goods.
Sheila will rebuild-she isn't a stranger to this-it's happened once before-almost 20 years ago to the date. Sheila doesn't live in a flood plain-therefore she does not qualify for flood insurance. We have set up this fund to help her with the materials it will take to rebuild her house. Volunteers are in place to do the work-but she needs flooring, sheet rock, paint, etc. Eventually she will need to replace a house full of furniture. Any donation you can give will be so greatly appreciated by all of us. We have set the goal at $5000-we know it isn't enough, but it is a start! We would love to reach-and surpass-this goal! Thank you so much for your contribution!!
