Emergency Flood Relief Fund

On Aug 11th torrential rain hit Michigan and brought serious flooding to many areas in this state. One area specifically is that of my families home in Clinton Township at the Hayes and Utica Rd intersection. Here the Red Run River meets the Clinton River which runs through my parents back yard. Reports show the river crested at 20.7' with this flood, making it the worst flood in this area since 1...947. The flooding caused my parents to need to be rescued from their home just after midnight by the local fire dept. At this point the flooding had not only filled the basement, but water was now on the main living floors. So with a change of clothes each they abandoned the house to seek safety for themselves. My Aunt Sue and Uncle Kurt have graciously taken in my mom, step dad, and brother so they have someplace to stay. But my family has lost everything in this flood. And while I am so thankful for their safety, I know the struggles that lie ahead for them. They've lost their home, their cars, and all of their belongings. Some replaceable, some not. My heart breaks thinking about how they must be feeling, what they must be thinking and what it must be like to see their home in ruins. Please join me and my sister Theresa in our quest to help our parents who have always been so generous to us and our families as well as to others in need. We have set up this page to create an awareness of this tragedy and to ask our friends, families and the community to rally together and help my parents and brother recoup and rebuild their lives after this flood took all they had.
