Diabetic Alert Dog for Andrew

Donation protected
We are trying to raise money for our 3 year old son to get a Diabetic Alert Dog. He recently almost ended up in a diabetic coma and worse almost lost his life due to our local doctors misdiagnosing him. Our son Andrew was a carefree happy little toddler prior to October 7th, 2015 he could make anyone smile. On October 7th he started to get really sick really quick it hit him the evening of the 7th after I had him at his pediatricians for a rash that was not going away. That same evening shortly after eating his dinner Andrew started throwing up and got really tired all at once. That next day he showed very little interest in food and wanted nothing but to drink to the point he was wanting a new and different drink every five minutes and when he did eat he would get sick. So Jeremy and I both agreed he should go back to the doctor so we took him back to the pediatrician where she looked at him and said this is most likely viral it will just have to run its course. Jeremy and I were not happy with this answer as we had this gut feeling that there was something else going on plus the day prior the pediatrician had made the comment that he had lost 10 pounds. Which is not normal in anyway. Well as the day went on he just kept getting worse and started going down hill quicker and quicker. When he woke up the following morning he had dark rings around his eyes and very little to no color in his face at all he literally looked like he was knocking on deaths door and he would not move he layed in one spot all day long. So we took him to our local Emergency room where he was seen and evaluated him just as the pediatrician had done and said the same thing said it was viral and it needed to run its course. When I asked if he would just please do some lab work I was told no because there was nothing indicating a need for it and I was made to sound like one of those paranoid moms by the ER physician that day and mocked. So I felt defeated that no one was listening to me and Jeremy when we both knew we were losing him but no one was listening to us and his symptoms. The following day Jeremy told me I should take him down to Toledo Children's Hospital because he needed to be seen by a pediatric ER doctor cause he was done playing around.  When I got him down there I told the doctors at the ER that I was not leaving there till someone could tell me what was wrong with my son and why he is beyond lethargic. It was that day I thought for sure my son was slipping away and way too quickly. They had to start an IV line in his bone marrow of his left leg cause he was so dehydrated they could not start a normal line. Once that line was in and they drew the labs the results were in and that was when the doctor told me and my mom that Andrew was in Diabetic Ketoacidosis and being admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit and that he was no way out of the woods that there was still a possibility he could go into a diabetic coma. Our son is alive today because of the staff down at Toledo Children's Hospital. And now we are asking you to please help us raise money to get him a Diabetic Alert Dog so we can continue to fight and have this amazing tool to catch when he is low or too high especially at night. Any amount is beyond appreciated by our family and especially our son.
