Fighting for Grandma

Donation protected
On August 9th my family had a big scare. My mother in law, Dawn, had a Subarachnoid hemorrhage, better known as a brain aneurysm. Sever bleeding on the brain and was life flighted to OSF in Peoria, IL. It was determined that day that she was going to have to have a surgery, that would clip and secure the aneurysm. The surgery took place August 11th, it was 5 hour surgery, that ended up being more complicated than they expected. Dawn is now recovering, but has a long road ahead of her. She is going to have to stay in the hospital for an additional 10-14 days, with 4-6 weeks of additional recovery at home, before hopefully returning back to a normal life, enjoying her family and especially her grandchildren. This experience has been very hard for the family, mentally, physically and financially. My father in law, Russ, is a disabled veteran supporting his family on his pension and social security. Dawn, is a waitress at IHOP, along with their daughter Jessica. My husband and myself are helping them as much as possible, but the price to get her well is going to keep adding up. Dawns husband Russ and daughter Jessica stayed the first week in Peoria to help Dawn recover. They stayed at a wonderful place called the Family House. While down there they had to pay for their food every day, their gas and their laundry. Now that Dawn is feeling better they have been driving back and forth from oglesby to Peoria. I have created this to help out with those expenses, and also help out with any medical expenses Dawn may end up having. As part of her recovery she has a medicine that she is going to have to take that is rather expensive, almost $1000. On top of this medication, she is going to have at home health visiting her to ensure she is recovering correctly. She is also going to need speech therapy and other at home therapies. Anything will help in this time, and we truly appreciate it. Dawn is a loving mother and an amazing grandmother. We just want to help her heal as fast as possible.
