Ability in Difference Fundraiser

My 19-year-old brother Sam was born with Fragile X Syndrome (a rare developmental disability), and fortunately, he made it through his whole childhood without being bullied. He was extraordinarily lucky, part of the one in five kids with developmental disabilities in the United States who feel socially included by their peers. A significant cause of this exclusion is ignorance and stigma surrounding people with developmental disabilities, and the only way it can be solved is by exposing neurotypical people to members of the special needs community from a young age. At Ability in Difference, we provide a means for high school students from private schools and those from special education schools to interact with one another and to foster connections across their differences. With your donation, you are directly contributing to bringing together students who are isolated in the academic setting and consequently, to creating a more socially inclusive society for those who have special needs like my brother.
