MISSION TRIP TO INDIA

This fall, I will be traveling with a group to India, to serve on a short-term mission team with Rahab’s Rope. Rahab’s Rope is an incredible ministry. They are love in action. Their mission is give hope and opportunity, and to see lives transformed through prevention, restoration, and direct intervention.

The purpose of this trip is to learn what it looks like to fight human trafficking and to plug into being a part of the solution. Specifically, my time will be spent:

-Working in aftercare with women who have been victims of India’s sex/slave trade, showing love and providing skills training.

-Working in an AIDS hospice.

-Working in a transitional home where the main focus is preparing previously trafficked women to become re-integrated back into their society and find jobs. This home is the next step after a woman has been through an initial aftercare home.

-Helping with vocational classes, basic education, leading devotions, and relationship building.

-Helping in the children’s ministry.

There is an estimated 32 million slaves today and about 50% of them are in India. Trafficking into forced prostitution victimizes more children in India than any other country in the world. A report by the United Nations Centre for Development and Population Activities indicates that approximately 200 girls and women in India enter sex work every day. More than 160 are coerced into it.  The promotion of tourism in Goa and Madurai, two of India’s major beach holiday destinations, appears to be resulting in rising numbers of prostituted children.

I invite you to be a part of my trip by supporting me through your thoughts, prayers, and financially.  Prayer needs are many and flights and travel to the other side of the world is costly and I am responsible for raising my own support. Trip costs include airfare, lodging, transportation, and ministry supplies.

I have no doubt this experience will be life-changing and I am excited to share it with you. Thank you in advance for your prayers and support.
