Cyprus Swim Tour - Around Cyprus for Charities

Pursuing the realization of a dream, of actions in favor of ecology and of a humanistic approach of life, I have decided to challenge myself sportively while helping * reliable charities in their missions
*Subject to approval I will cooperate with Generation for Change CY (GFC)

Generation for Change CY (GFC) which focuses on supporting vulnerable families and individuals with food, clothes, hygiene essentials, and other basic items. GFC implements programs focused on integration, skills development and empowerment, such as language development and sports programs. Also, GFC organizes cultural, awareness-raising and advocacy events to promote intercultural exchange and raise awareness on social issues.

The amount raised from the campaign will be directed to Generation for Change CY’s 2022 humanitarian aid program aiming to provide 1550 Support Boxes with food, clothes,  hygiene essentials and kitchen utensils to support people living under difficult circumstances i.e., people at risk of poverty, single parents, large families, and refugees.

I am a 40 year old French man residing in Cyprus for 10 years with a lot of energy to give towards our beautiful island and vulnerable groups of humans living here, regardless of their background, nationality, sexual orientation etc…

 

I am going to swim about 280 Kilometers, from Pomos to Finikoudes (10-12 Km = 4-5 hours daily) from 2nd of April until 30th of April (estimation). I will be sleeping in my van which will be driven to the next stage by close friends and relatives.

 

There are many objectives involved here: chasing a personal quest, helping a charity that matters to me, highlighting the beauty of Cyprus, contributing to the friendship between Cyprus and France. The journey (in my mind) has started 7 months ago and the actual adventure will start in a less than 1 month.

 

Along the route some events will be organized (beach cleaning and/or special gathering of people in need of assistance) and at the end of the tour, a conference will be held to raise awareness on climate change, economically deprived groups (including but not limited to asylum seekers), and the link between these two issues.

 

100% of donations collected (via gofundme.com) will be go to Generation for Change CY will be fully transparent and trackable. Fundraising will start early March and communication on the project will be done by social media, press, donors and via all members of the charities.
