New lungs for Cyndi Roark

Welcome to my sister's Go Fund Me page. Her name is Cyndi and she's a 40 year old daughter, sister, mommy to a 3 year old and wife. She used to wear all these hats/titles with pride, but after being diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension about 6 years ago, these titles seem to be slipping away.
A quick backstory on her health. She was a very active child and athlete through her youth. In Jr. High School she was bounced around from doctor to doctor to finally be diagnosed with scleroderma (or CREST syndrome: calcinosis, Raynaud's phenomenon, esophageal dysmotility, sclerodactyly, and telangiectasia).
She did fine through High School and college (she was indispensable)! But it started creeping up on her in her late 30's. Eventually the scleroderma attacked her lungs developing a very rare progressive lung disease called pulmonary hypertension.
There is no cure and very little money towards research. Once you exhaust all oral medications and IV meds stop working for you (as they have her), the only option is transplant. She's reached out to a handful of clinics and many have rejected her due to the underlying scleroderma. But she's found one that feels like a second home and truly cares to get her through surgery and back to life - UT Southwestern in Dallas.
What this means is she will be pulled from her family for months at a time for recovery (at least 3 months solid with other potential weekly visits). First thing to come to her mind is being mommy to her son/wife to her husband. Second she thinks of the financial burden this will put on them and that is why she's swallowing her pride to reach out to friends, family, former colleagues and friend of friends (some complete strangers).
If you find it in your heart to donate to her double lung transplant my family and I will be forever grateful. We don't have much we can give back except our appreciation and knowledge that there is good in the world.
She can't do this alone. She needs her family and friends and strangers who care. Most importantly she needs God every step of the way. Because "For with God nothing shall be impossible." Luke 1:37
