Cyndee Parsons Battles Cancer

Our friend Cyndee Parsons is battling breast cancer with ever increasing medical debt.
The Cancer was detected in October of 2018 as a ping pong ball size lump protruding above her right breast. Medical staff conducted countless tests to determine the origin of the lump. Cyndee quickly blew through her $6,800 first out-of-pocket insurance deductible for 2018. Cyndee went to the Mayo Clinic four times, including surgery to remove a metastasized tumor. It was determined to be stage 2 cancer of unknown origin – breast lymph nodes were found in the tumor. Cyndee immediately began 20 weekly sessions of chemotherapy. Chemotherapy will be followed by radiation that is planned to continue through the end of October 2019.
By the end of January 2019 Cyndee has again met her $6,800 first out-of-pocket deductible.
Cyndee, a special education teacher, has completely exhausted her PTO (paid time off). Time off from work for medical appointments and treatments is now without pay.
To date Cyndee has accumulated in excess of $25,000 in out-of-pocket medical expenses. Expenses will continue to mount as some of her treatments and testing are not covered by insurance. Recently Cyndee had a series of three shots required to combat a low white blood cell count caused by her treatments. Estimated out-of-pocket cost per shot is $7,000.
All donations received for Cyndee will be used to pay her medical bills and assist with living expenses for Cyndee and her teenage daughter Inga as it becomes more difficult to meet monthly obligations.
To allow Cyndee to focus on “Getting Well” - all contributions to this fund will be managed by her life-long friend Heidi Stennes.
