Everyone has heard about the wild flooding in Metro-Detroit on 8-11 by now. Hundreds, if not thousands, of basements flooded. The difference in this story is that my father's entire home is in the lower level of a 2-flat. All below ground level, which currently means all below the water level.
Ken and his wife Peggy lost everything. Furniture, appliances, electronics, pictures, food-EVERYTHING.
The windows broke due to water pressure and water poured into their home at an alarming rate, barely giving them time to scoop up Snuggles(their adorable dog) and get out of the house with a few belonging. It has been over 24 hours and the water level has only gone down inches in their area. Their home is still under 4 feet of water.
Ken and Peggy Kerr are extremely hard working individuals who always seem to end up with the wrong side of the coin. Despite many health and financial hardships, they always find time to babysit when needed or to drop everything and repair a leaky sink.
It's time to give them a little help and do our best to restore their hope.
