Kids in Mission: Fund a Cybercafe in Botswana

Hello we’re the kids in mission! We are a group of Students from the American School of Barcelona, Spain. The program is supervised by Ms. Marta Vernet. Please read about our campaign.

Our goal is to help fulfill the dream of five refugees in the Dukwi refugee camp located in Botswana, Africa .
Their dream is to build a cyber cafe in an extra room that is in the school in the refugee camp. When we heard about it, we knew we had to help! These refugees didn’t have any laptops to put in the cafe, so we talked to our school tech team and they offered to donate ten old laptops. We would like to thank the tech team for this.

The refugees also didn’t  have any money to buy furniture and cooking utensils, so we decided to create this gofund me page to help raise money. We also connected with Sathukani a carpenter, and a refugee, to build all the tables and furniture that we designed.  We called him to explain  all of our planning, and we ended up needing some help to understand him! We will need the money we raise to pay him too.

We’re also going to save up money for all the kitchen utensils like a fridge a microwave, etc.

We would like to acknowledge Idan  for helping out so much along the process of our project.
This Campaign is made by Laia which will help us raise money.
Our technology genius,  Ariadna , learned how to 3D print in just matter of days!  That helped us  design the cups and plates.
Also, we would like to say a special thanks to Ignasi Jamandreu because he showed us how to use a 3D printer.
Finally, this project wouldn't have been possible without the help of Marta Vernet!

Please, help these five refugees achieve their dream, please, donate now!

Who has created the campaign and where is it from?

The campaign has been created by a group of students from the American School of Barcelona together with their teacher, on behalf of the school.

2. What is your relationship or contact with the parties for whom you are raising funds.

The school has a program framed within their community service projects in Botswana every month of July a group of high school students from the school, go to Dukwy and work with the young refugees who live there. Our relationship is that we collaborate with them annually in campaigns and projects.

3. How the funds will be invested (be as specific as possible).

The funds that are collected from this campaign will be invested in two ways, on the one hand part of the funds will be dedicated to the internet connection. The other part will be used to buy furniture from one of the carpenters of the refugee camp. We also want to buy a 3d printer. The computers will be donated by our school.

4. How they want to send the funds raised in the campaign to the final beneficiaries.

The idea is to send it through an entry to the account number that the authorities of the Dukwi Refugee Camp will indicate to us.
