a little help from my friends.

Two months ago I went in for a routine hearing check, and it turns out I have a tumor (acoustic neuroma) that has almost completely destroyed the hearing in my right ear. It's quite large, and is going to have to be surgically removed, lest it cause other problems, like further facial paralysis. After the surgery, my hearing will be completely gone in that ear. The timing on this is pretty bad, as my wife's unemployment ran out last month, and she is going to have to stay home and look after me after the surgery. I'm going to be home about three months, so we will have only my income to support her, myself and our 9 year old daughter. My income will be greatly reduced while on short term disability, in fact, almost cut in half the three months I won't be able to work, which is going to severly impact my ability to support my family. I am asking for help with the rent for that time, as well as help paying the high deductible on my insurance plan. I realize that my situation could be worse than it is, and certainly not as bad as others, but it is times like these when we must turn to their friends for help. Strangley enough, the last couple of months have been what you might call, medicalbillpalooza. My wife had to drive our 9 year old to the emergency room because she passed out in the driveway, hit her head, and had a concussion, so we have to pay for that hospital visit, x-ray and CAT scan for her. The short term disability will continue on until just before Christmas.
