Baby Zahmir's recovery
Just over a week after our baby Z's 1st birthday, being the curious little boy that he is; he crawled out of our sight for just a second. That second was long enough for him to find a watch battery and swallow it. After a scary couple of days and a surgery to remove the battery, we were told he would be alright. Until now, a week and a half later, Zahmir is in Yale New Haven Hospital's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. He has a hole in his esophagus and in his trachea. He is currently using a breathing tube and will need to use a feeding tube for at least six weeks - until they can fix the hole. During this time he will not be able to attend day care & Zahmir's mommy, Kelley will most likely not be able to work. We are trying to help alleviate some of the financial burden that will come along with this, such as: rent, utilities, groceries, any medical bills, etc. for Kelley, Zahmir, his brother and two sisters. While it will be a long road to recovery, we are just grateful that our little trooper is going to come out okay. Anything anyone can do is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
