This is Valerie. She is the best kind of friend - one that makes you smile just by being around, and you know your day is going to be greater because she is in it. Val has a positivity and a humor that draws people in; a grace and a selfless love that keeps you coming back.
Valerie has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
More specifically, Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma that has tested positive for Estrogen and Progesterone receptors. Those are a lot of words that basically mean Valerie has a hard fight in front of her. After a double mastectomy and lymph node removal in September, the doctors will then determine if she will need chemotherapy or radiation. She is already been told that she will be on a hormone blocking drug for the next 5-10 years. A difficult road that will change her life, her husband's life, and that of her children.
