Hips for Zelda

Donation protected
Zelda was born with double hip dysplasia. Basically, as she walks, the bones of her legs pop in and out of her hip sockets. We have affectionately deemed her gait as "the sexy puppy walk", as she sways from side to side as she walks.
As time goes on, the defect becomes increasingly painful as bones begin to grind and break down. She is now 2 years old, and walks with a limp, struggles to rise from a seated position, and tires easily. It is difficult to think that at only 2, she is already struggling. Algthough she has spent most of her young life in pain, she is in good spirits. She is a best friend to our two year old son Lucas, a faithful companion to John, and truly the keeper of my furry-loving heart.
A procedure known as a Femoral Head Osteotemy is required to fix this problem. After hearing of Zelda's situation, someone reached out to fund the surgery to fix her first hip. John and I were floored by the generosity and compassion from this fellow dog lover, and after some soul-searching, we decided to gratefully accept her offer. Zelda recieved her first FHO in September 2014, and has fully recoverd on her left side.

The condition of Zelda's right side has deteriorated greatly. We are now taking the steps towards gathering the funds for her second FHO. We are a young family with a small child, and regardless of how much we love our pup, there comes a point where we cannot in good conscience spend so much money on our animal, when our son's needs come first.

We recognize that there are so many more dire issues that people face on a day-to-day basis, however, the generosity of one person helped extend our Pup's life once, I will not be so close minded to think that its impossible for it to happen again. We humbly, thankfully, and willingly accept any small donation to ease this financial and emotional burden.

God has been faithful in meeting not only all of our needs, but also the desires of our heart. I believe what matters to us, matters to Him. Seeing Zelda function normally, pain-free, and watching her grow alongside our children is something we are beleiving for and look forward to!
