I want to take control of my life and get out of this wheelchair. I want to be able to work, play, and serve others again.
I am currently bedbound a great deal. This body of mine was badly injured as a result of childhood trauma. It requires two new knees and, more critically, a new right hip as soon as possible. My hip joint no longer exists and is "totally obliterated". The pain is tremendous.
It is imperative that I lower my BMI as soon as possible and that's where vertical sleeve weight loss surgery comes in. I have lost 70 pounds on my own, but since I've been in the chair and in bed, that's become difficult.
I found an amazing surgeon in San Antonio and am blessed to have health insurance. But we often have trouble making our bills each month, so the surgery expenses are a challenge.
I am required to have testing done on my heart, a sleep study, dietician, and therapy visits. The medical tests are all a $325 copay each and seeing each of many doctors and professionals is $35 each time. The hospital also requires a deposit. I am unable to continue this journey without help.
