#CWStrong cancer treatments in 2018
In May of 2015 Christa was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer at (Stage IV). Through the support of her community she is defying her life expectancy and using her story to help inspire others. She is doing that through one-on-one texts/e-mails/messages, speaking to groups, and sharing the paper she wrote detailing exactly what she did to show no evidence of disease 4 months after the initial diagnosis.
Christa's cancer is an aggressive one. The recurrance last year spread cancer all over her lungs, liver and 40 spots in her brain, dropping her life expectancy from years to months. A year and a half later she is holding strong with all but three of her brain spots completely resolved. As of the fall 2017 she is in active treatment for a 4cm tumor in her liver that is a metasasis from her oringial breast cancer. (A good thing).
2017 has had many ups and downs but Christa has been keeping her mind and spirit active. She is executing fellowship events and seminars with the Aloha Cancer Project , playing DJ sets here and there around Oahu, got her documentary funded and into post production editing, and is learning zazen meditation.
Christa has held large outrageous public events for her birthday since 2009 . With a different theme varying the "Best of" that year, she has had pop-ups in warehouses, nigtclubs, restaurants, and a hotel pool. Since 2010 she has made the event a fundraiser to raise money for the POW! WOW! Hawai'i but since being diagnosed she has been raising the money for her own treatments.
Christa believes taking an integrative approach using both Eastern and Western medicine is the best approach. In the past two years she has gotten closer with the spirit that guides her. Tremendous healing through the more serious instances in her journey came 100% from the love and support of others. She asks her community to help her with donations large or small, in-kind, or just their presence. We are all one.
