In 2009, a beloved member of the Deer Valley High School family, and my mother, Renee Mercado, passed away after a five-year battle against breast cancer.
In lieu of a traditional service, my mom requested that friends and family honor her by establishing the Rene Mercado Scholarship Foundation.
This year, for my birthday, I hope you consider contributing towards this worthy cause, which has already helped four Deer Valley High School students realize their college dreams.
Why donate?
The scholarship recipients selected for the Renee Mercado Memorial Scholarship are students that face particular challenges. These students show particular promise and are our future. Historically, the recipients average 4.0 GPA and above. The money donated can support the auxiliary costs associated with college (books, fees, rent, utilities).
Your donation will help our memorial foundation continue the legacy of the Renee Mercado Scholarship which was developed to fulfill my mothers wishes. Through her time as an employee at Deer Valley High School, my mom was dedicated to mentoring young adults while encouraging them to pursue a college education after high school. Her devotion to the students was remarkable, and with your help, we can honor her efforts by providing financial assistance for college to a student who may otherwise have been unable to pursue their dreams to attend college.
