I know many people are wondering what is going on with me and/or looking for updates. Myself and my sister-in-law are starting this page to keep everyone informed and the right info out there. Back in December I started having back pain and in February I could feel a mass in my left abdomen as well as experiencing quite a bit of discomfort. After six more doctors appointments with little result I finally said I can't do it anymore and need to know what's happening, I was in too much pain. My doctor originally thought it was a hernia. A week later I was fast track to a surgeon in Kamloops she took one feel and said this is not a hernia. She sent me to the hospital in Kamloops for a CT scan and blood work and within an hour I was told that it was a tumour and they could also see nodules on my lungs. From this initial discovery, I have undergone numerous tests in an attempt to determine what type of tumour it is. I have been diagnosed with a rare cancer, they say I am roughly 1 of 1500 people in the world have ever had this. They are calling it a non-curable pancreatic-TYPE cancer. Talk about the worst day of my life! I am hoping to be included in a POG study that would aide in the research of this type of cancer as well as have comparative information made available on my healthy vs cancerous DNA to aide in my treatment. If all goes as planned, I will have the ct guided biopsy this week as part of the POG study and begin chemotherapy next week. Regardless of the diagnosis and challenges ahead, this girl has tons of fight in her. I will face the challenges head on and will never give up. Nothing but positive thoughts and time spent enjoying my life each and every day. Thank you for everyone's love and support during this difficult time. I need everyone to keep positive along with me, although diffucult at times not impossible. We will try our best to keep this site updated on my progress.
