Medical Mission Trip to Guatemala

Buenos Dias! I hope that you are having a great day in the midst of this beautiful fall weather! This past June/July I was blessed with the opportunity to travel to the city of Sumpango in Guatemala with the Monroe Bible Church as part of a mission trip with other students. We worked on a construction site and ran a vacation bible school for children. It was an amazing experience. I was able to clearly see the beauty of God’s creation in the nature, culture, and especially the children. Coming back to the United States I have more of an appreciation for the beauty here. It was also very inspiring to see the faith of the Guatemalans. Even though we live thousands of miles apart, we still believe in the same God who created each of us uniquely for our situation and path in life.
I am now even more excited to tell you that God has given me the opportunity to go back to Sumpango, to work with the local church again and serve the people of Guatemala. It will be January 10-17th. This time I will be going as part of a medical mission team with Woodlands Church, where I regularly attend while going to UW-Stevens Point. Our team includes doctors and other medical professionals, and we will be running a clinic with pediatrics, gynecology, optical services, dental care, and a pharmacy. After a family is seen in the clinic they are presented with the Gospel and a family picture.
For this trip to be possible I need your help. First, would you be willing to pray for me and the others who will be joining me on this trip? Pray that we would have soft and open hearts, to learn from God and from one another what it really means to love God and others the way Jesus loves. Could you also pray for our health, safety and unity during this trip, and that God will use the care we provide to improve the health of the Guatemalans?
Additionally, would you please consider being a financial supporter? I am responsible for raising my own funds for the mission trip, which is $1550. Would you consider a gift of $20 to $50 or more to help cover the cost of the trip? The trip cost covers my food, lodging, and transportation, as well as all of the medical supplies needed for the trip. All funds raised will go towards this trip. When I was in Guatemala, I saw the joy in the children’s faces when we gave out balloons. It was such a simple thing, but it meant so much. I want to go back and bring more joy and love to them. Last time it was balloons, but this time it might be with a pair of glasses or a medication. Please support me in bringing the love and healing touch of God to the people of Guatemala.
