Operation Baby Stack

My sister Michelle and brother-in-law Brian have been trying to have a baby for over seven years.  During that time they have tried six rounds of IUI, seven rounds of IVF (some rounds with own eggs, several with donor eggs), had two surgeries to remove endometriosis, one miscarriage, lots of medications, acupuncture, dietary changes and more.  Unfortunately, none of these attempts have been successful.  They have spent over $70,000 with little help and no debt.  However, on two teacher’s salaries it is becoming more difficult to continue to pursue their dream of having a family.

They are pursuing adoption, but have been on a list for a while with no potential for an adoption in sight. While continuing to pursue an adoption, they are hoping to try one last attempt at medical intervention. They recently met with a reproductive immunologist (Dr. Jeffery Braverman) in New York City who gave them some insight as to why they can’t achieve, or maintain, a pregnancy.  However, the next steps will be very involved and costly.

The reproductive immunologist suggested that they have another surgery to remove endometriosis from a world renowned specialist (Dr. Tamer Seckin) in NYC to help achieve pregnancy and rid Michelle of pain and constant discomfort. They are scheduled to get a second opinion from another highly recommended doctor (Dr. William Schoolcraft) in Colorado in early September.  These reproductive specialists are the best in their fields and would give them more options and chances, but are out of state and suggesting extremely expensive treatment. Their insurance covers very little related to infertility treatments.  Several friends have already generously offered them places to stay in both locations.

People have constantly asked over the past seven years what they can do to help them on their journey and there has been very little that anyone can do; until now. In order for them to pursue one last effort, they need help with the expenses for travel, medications, procedures, etc.  The amount they receive in donations could determine what path they choose to take; surgery in New York, immunology medications in conjunction with a round of IVF in New York, IVF in Colorado at CCRM, gestational carrier in Colorado, or continue with adoption.  Please consider helping them to pursue their dream of a family and give them the peace of knowing that they truly tried everything available.
