The HAUL to NEPAL

Donation protected
UPDATE:
Due to the concerns expressed by my family and friends about traveling to Africa at this time, I have decided to switch programs from Kenya to Nepal! I will still be volunteering with orphans and my trip will be at the same time, the second half of January 2015, through IVHQ. I chose Nepal because my mother actually knows some nuns who run a small school in Pokhara and I will be able to serve at that school and explore a little bit more of Nepal on top of my original program. That should make my trip to be about a month long.

I can’t wait to help out at the orphanages, meet new people, have a peek into a new community and a new world, visit all the beautiful temples, be surrounded by the mountains, learn a bit about myself, and go on this adventure.

Hello Friends!

I am very happy to share with you some exciting news! I am planning on volunteering abroad in Kenya at orphanages for a couple of weeks starting on January 15, 2015. I am starting this GoFundMe account to help me pay for my plane tickets and other program/travel fees.

I know this trip seems like it's coming out of nowhere, so let me share with you how I got to this point: After stepping down as Oakland Sunday School principal, directing my last NCKCYM Summer Camp, and my upcoming graduation in December, I wanted to take a break and do something crazy.

Don't get me wrong; I don't want a break because I'm tired. Far from it! These past few years have been amazing: experiencing the trials and joys of leadership, working with and meeting so many inspiring and amazing people, and slowly learning about who I was and how I want to live my life.

After some reflecting, I decided that I wanted to go on adventure before I commit to a new career path after graduation. But I'm not one to just go on vacation... that's too simple. So I started to reflect on what I love to do and what gives me a sense of purpose. The list was pretty simple: community, working with youngins, love, and service. Childcare and community work just seemed to sum that up all too easily. As for the location, when in my life will I ever have a reason or the opportunity to go to Africa? I  picked the place I thought would challenge me and give me adventure.☺

I am very excited to embark on this adventure and even more excited to share this experience with YOU.

If you are able, any donation in any amount is sincerely appreciated. I only ask that you don’t make anonymous donations so I can thank you and keep you updated with my trip. And no worry if you are not able to donate because I also accept prayers, hugs, and good wishes.
