Service Dog for CVS Child

My 7 year old daughter suffers from Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome aka CVS, and has since she was only 2.
“Cyclic vomiting syndrome, sometimes referred to as CVS, is an increasingly recognized disorder with sudden, repeated attacks—also called episodes—of severe nausea, vomiting, and physical exhaustion that occur with no apparent cause.”
Last year, her frequency and severity of episodes increased. A year ago, she had been dealing with months of illness and slipped into a state of despair. She expressed, that she “wanted her life back.” This was absolutely heartbreaking.
At this time, I became aware of MSAR - Manitoba Search and Rescue, an organization that can assist in training a service dog specific to my daughter’s needs. The cost of a specially trained dog is a minimum of $15k for a response dog and upwards for an alert dog. A $5k deposit is required to get the process started.
A service dog could do so much for her including offering her emotional support, and a sense of independence. It can be trained to respond by making us aware of her vomiting, and most dogs trained for this purpose end up being able to warn ahead of time. To date, she has not been able to enjoy the freedoms of her own bedroom/space because she often gets so weak during an episode she cannot make it to a bathroom. It can be trained to calm her when experiencing extreme emotions, which can also be a trigger to an episode. Time is of the essence when administering abort medication and the sooner we know an episode is happening or about to happen, sometimes we can prevent it.
