Be Brave, Be Bold, Be TeamBrad

Ten years ago, Brad Johnson began his battle with a very rare disease called Myasthenia Gravis (MG). Not long after, he discovered he had developed diabetes from this disease. In June 2005, he had surgery at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. to remove benign tumors in his chest. After that, doctors continued to search for answers and admitted Brad to the Mayo Hospital in Minnesota, where there would hopefully be more answers. In 2009, Brad underwent another surgery to remove numerous tumors once again. Just recently, from a trip to the Mayo Hospital, he found another disappointment. Doctors revealed that Brad again has multiple tumors throughout his chest area, including one connected to his heart. These tumors are stage 4 and malignant. Mayo conducted many tests and came to the realization that surgery would be the absolute last resort, since he already has deep scar-tissue built up from previous surgeries. At this time, doctors still do not know the extent of this rare disease or the cancerous tumors.
The next step for treatment for Brad is chemo which will be done in Rapid City, South Dakota. After the first eight sessions, he will return to the Mayo Hospital for a scan to check if any progress was made with the treatments.
Brad is currently in his 24th year serving with the Air Force and is stationed in Box Elder, South Dakota. He is married to Shelly, and they have three kids. This fund was created by Brad's niece to offset medical expenses and/or travel expenses for future treatments. All donations will be given to Brad to ensure that his family can remain by his side throughout the entire journey. The family is selling t-shirts that are $13 a piece and also hosting a cancer walk in support of Brad. The t-shirt order deadline is September 5th. The walk is in Freeman, SD on September 21st at 2:00 p.m. and the registration fee to walk is $15 per person. The money from the cancer walk will be going to the American Cancer Society. Anyone under 5 years old is free. Registration is at 1:30 p.m. at the Lion's Park. Contact Taylor Johnson at [phone redacted] for any further information. Please continue to pray for Brad Johnson and the entire Johnson family.
