Bob Ross Memorial Fund

Donation protected
UPDATE: On October 6th my dad passed away. It was very sudden and unexpected. We are asking for donations in lieu of flowers for those who wish to contribute. Thank you to everyone who has been there for my family these past few months. It has been a long and tiring road. We are blessed to have such amazing people around us. We will have a memorial at Relevant Church  920 Beville Rd Saturday, October 11th at 1pm. Everyone is welcome. My mother has asked that we all wear bright/tropical colors.

Anyone who knows Bob and Susan Ross know that they are a special kind of people. Through the years they have opened their hearts, home and wallets to so many. Whether through the cake business (Duckworth’s), Girl Scouts or church they have constantly been motivated to do what they could for anyone and everyone they came across... and always with a smile. It is with a very humble heart that we must ask our family and friends for help during this tragic time.

Bob Ross was recently diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer; a few days short of his 56th birthday. The cancer has spread to his liver and surrounding lymph nodes and has closed off his large intestine completely. All medical expenses so far are being paid out of pocket while he awaits Medicaid coverage. Susan was diagnosed three years ago with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis which is has progressively depleted her lungs’ ability to function. The week after finding out about Robert’s cancer she was forced into early retirement due to the severity of her condition and will be losing her health insurance. They have had to move out of their home of 35+ years to better suit their physical and medical needs as he has lost a lot of his mobility due to severe arthritis in his knees, ankles and wrists.

While this road is going to be very long and rough we must take each hurdle as it comes. Bob's first hurdle is getting through radiation to prevent his cancer from spreading any further and to shrink his tumors so that he can gain even the smallest amount of physical comfort back. During this first round of treatment he has to take a medication that costs $170/day for 25 days...that's over $4,000. His medical expenses are already over $60,000 and this is just from the first three weeks. Any donation will go a long way in helping them to get through this terrible time in their lives. Thank you and God Bless.
