Marine Corps Marathon for T6B

Friends, Family and Colleagues,

The 6th Branch (T6B) is a nonprofit organization that utilizes the leadership and organizational skills of Veterans to execute aggressive community service initiatives in their local community. They have been improving the quality of life in East Baltimore for five years.

I have been volunteering with T6B since 2011 by participating in their various community service projects. Their latest initiative, The Oliver Community Farm, is one that serves East Baltimore families that continue to live in a food desert. A food desert is a community that has little access to healthy food. When a community lacks healthy food, crime increases, as does individual and community health costs.

Last year, I partnered with another T6B volunteer and we raised over $4,000 for T6B’s initiative named, Rain Barrels for Oliver.
This initiative now increases environmental awareness and water stewardship in East Baltimore's Oliver neighborhood. My agreement to raise money was to complete my first half-marathon, which I completed in September 2013 in Philadelphia.
This year, I decided to complete my first marathon and will participate in The Marine Corps Marathon, in Washington DC, on Sunday, October 26th.

I’ve decided to dedicate this race to help The Oliver Community Farm. My goal is to raise $2620 by Saturday, October 25th. This amount will give T6B a great jump start to continue their initiative of revitalizing this neighborhood by eliminating the food desert that exists in East Baltimore. There is no minimum amount to donate because any amount will help.
