Dance is my life. It is the medium with which I share my passion for life. I spent the last 23 years exploring the world of dance. As a dancer, I am always searching for ways to deepen my craft and grow as a performer and teacher. Like most art-forms, dance changes and evolves over time, challenging its artists to adapt and improve their unique skill-sets.
Growing up and living in Midcoast Maine has been wonderful. Up to this point, my career path has focused on teaching dance within the community, which has been fun and rewarding. While I have learned a great deal from this experience, I am ready to return to being a student myself. When compared to most aspiring professional dancers, my greatest deficit is intensive education.
My acceptance into the Certificate Program at Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles is an important opportunity that can help me reach the next level of my potential. Instruction will be provided by world-class dancers and choreographers, undoubtedly expanding my creative horizons. This comprehensive training course will not only have me dancing up to 36 hours a week for two months, but it will open the doors for auditions, specialized workshops, videos, and showcases. Living in one of the epicenters of contemporary dance, I intend to maximize my time. Needless to say, dance will be my full-time job.
Over the past few years, a deep desire to explore my passions has been growing within me. While I know that I will never stop teaching, I have reached the point where I must become a student and immerse myself in life as a dancer. In my life, the community that raised me has been overwhelmingly generous in supporting my goals and ambitions. This is a chance for me to turn a childhood dream into a reality, bringing my experiences back to help expand the diversity of performing art in the Midcoast region.
