Curtis Wilson (26) is not just a filmmaker but a visionary. Curtis aspires to counter the notoriety of the crime drenched , murder enabling city of Baltimore, MD which he was born and raised. Since receiving his BA in Electronic Media and Film from Towson University, Curtis has worked with Baltimore City youth at Wide Angle Youth Media and has since been mentoring young filmmakers in his city. Curtis has played a lead role in this organization in helping young filmmakers develop a deep practice and understanding of the world of film and hopefully inspiring them to become independent filmmakers themselves. Aside from his mentoring and teaching Curtis has played a major role in helping small black businesses and entrepreneurs such as B360, Black Girls Vote and TasteThis, market themselves to the world creating visual material for campaigns and branding initiatives.
In 2017, his media agency Gold Street was born! Gold Street's dual mission has and will always be to redefine the misinterpreted reputation that Baltimore has been given both nationally and global through the art and lens of digital storytelling and to nurture Baltimore’s upcoming filmmakers so they can one day pass the torch to those rising underneath them. Since its creation ; Gold Street has produced visual stories that have reeled I’m clientele for over fifty local Maryland based companies , spanning from non-profits, to restaurants and hair salons.
As of recent, Curtis procured a studio space located at 100 E23rd Street which will serve as the headquarters for this work and ecosystems to thrive.
On the date of July 19th Curtis was commissioned to shoot gender reveal in Pikesville MD at 3:30 PM. On his way to the location Curtis made one stop to his studio to meet his painters so that he can give them access to the studio building. In those very few minutes of him leaving into the building a theft broke the window of his vehicle and stole all of his equipment.

Yes - The gear is insured by Curtis renters insurance but since the gear was used for "business purposes", the adjuster whom is working on the claim on the policy states that all of CURTIS' stolen gear falls under SPECIAL LIMITS OF LIABILITY Section 1 - Coverage C which only issues a 250.00 payment.
The funds will be used for a full replacement of everything listed here that was stolen. Once all of the equipment is financed and has been replaced Curtis can resume his work and Gold Streets mission to restoring hope to the art of media and storytelling.

FOR SOME...MAYBE EVEN MANY CITIZENS OF BALTIMORE, IT IS EASY TO LOSE HOPE LIVING HERE AND AN EVEN HARDER TASK TRYING TO FIND IT AND KEEP IT. FOR ME AND MY FAMILY, THIS CAMERA GEAR WAS MY HOPE! IT WAS IN MY INTEREST TO USE THIS GEAR TO ENABLE MY FUTURE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE FUTURES OF THOSE WHO STAND BESIDE ME. WITH THIS GEAR NOW VANISHED IT WOULD MAKE SENSE FOR ME TO ABANDON HOPE BUT AS I TYPE THESE WORDS I TELL YOU "I WILL STILL BECOME SUCCESSFUL, AND I WILL NEVER GIVE UP UNTIL I AM."
