Brownie saved me -I must save him

Hi everyone, my name is Donna Riviello and I'm from Old Forge, Pennsylvania. In 1990 I became disabled ending my full-time career as an LPN due to the horrific pain associated with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD). Right now I work three hours a day five days a week and manage to sustain myself and my loving and loyal companion Brownie who came into my life in 2010 after several years of being bedridden due to RSD and depression.
When I adopted Brownie, my life changed completely. Besides being my companion, he became a reason for me to get up out of bed, exercise and fight the disease I've been forced to live with. The time spent playing, walking and caring for him helped me gain strength and return to work after being off for nearly four years.
Today, Brownie needs my help. He's been diagnosed with a condition called Polycythemia which causes his blood to become too thick putting him at immediate risk of seizures, stroke, heart attack and blood clots. He has been under treatment at the Clark Summit Emergency Veterinary Clinic where doctors have been caring for him by giving him Phlebotomy treatments and IV fluids to try to thin his blood. He had the first one last week and it was unsuccessful. He had another one yesterday and it lowered the red blood cells by 10 points, which is a positive start. The next step is to try some chemotherapy drugs in conjunction with the Phlebotomy to try to get his blood back to normal.
While Brownie's prognoses remains grim without treatment, if he responds to the suggested treatment protocol he can live a normal healthy life. Brownie is a cocker spaniel mix who is only 6 years old. Despite his serious diagnosis he is in no pain, happy and acts/plays like a pup....his tail wags 24/7. I have no choice but to do everything I can to hopefully see him recover. Unfortunately, the cost of care is beyond my reach. Each Phlebotomy treatment is costing $490.00 plus labs and other tests, of which he has had two so far and doctors feel he will need at least one treatment a week until he becomes stable again. Then according to his lab results the phebotomy will be performed every 4-6 weeks.
I'm taking my appeal to GoFundMe in an effort to raise funds to help defray the cost of my vet and the veterinarians at the emergency clinic where Brownie receives his treatments. Any amount is appreciated, as the cost of his care continues to climb.
Brownie was there at a time when I needed him the most, so I owe it to him to find whatever means are available to help fight the battle that is being waged in his body. I love him so much. Please make a contribution today to help treat Brownie.
Your consideration is greatly appreciated.
P.S. I can provide contact information for my vet and the emergency clinic should you wish to verify before making a donation.
