Kim's Cervical Cancer Journey

Welcome to Kim's Cervical Cancer Journey!

Kim is a beautiful woman and single mother of 4 children (ages 15, 11, 10, and 9). She works 3 part-time jobs to support her children. She loves her kids and finds many blessings in her everyday life. She is a Hart High alumna and very active in her church. She and the kids love to camp, go to the beach, hiking and being active in the local Santa Clarita, California, Community. Kim's life has not been perfect nor has she led a wealthy life financially, but her "wealth" has been in the blessings of her life, the people that surround her, and, most importantly, her children.

In 2016, Kim went for her routine Pap smear and the results were not favorable. She was told she needed to undergo testing and biopsies. These biopsies came back as cancerous. Of course, when she heard the word "cancer," everything just slowed and stopped in shock. She couldn't hear what the doctor was saying to her. All these thoughts rushed through her head about life, what would happen to her children, everything.

Due to issues with insurance coverage, treatment delays, Kim finally underwent her initial LEEP treatment. Unfortunately, subsequent biopsies revealed that the cancer was not entirely taken care of and more treatment was necessary. Again, after multiple treatment delays, Kim underwent a hysterectomy with the goal to catch all the cancer present. Thankfully, as of this moment, Kim is currently cancer-free, under watch, and her chemo/radiation is on hold.

This has been a highly emotional time for Kim; lots of emotional and physical stress. She has had to endure multiple procedures, her health declining, stress and worry over her well-being and that of her kids, and financially making ends meet, not just for her family but also to be able to cover the costs of medical treatment.

Being a single mother with 4 children, Kim does not have the means to fully recoup from her medical treatment and the preventative care she will need as she goes forth. It is our goal to help this wonderful lady who has been such a positive inspiration to all: her children, the SCV community, her church, and to other survivors of cancer. Please consider donating to help Kim for her current situation and for future care. All donations, small or large, are welcome!

**Note** If you happen to be located in the Santa Clarita, California, area on September 2nd (Saturday) from 1-3 p.m., we will be hosting a Zumbathon charity event at The Paseo Club - Valencia to help raise funds for Kim as well. Please see link below for details:
